This is a very late reponse, but as the saying goes, "better late than
never."
Kudos to the Committee! The reunion was fun! Too short, but fun, none the
less. I am challenged with determining who has changed most and who has
changed least. I can't help but feel we all are equal in both categories.
I thought I'd express my thoughts in a way other than the traditional
"great time had by all!" format. I suppose that's fitting, as I was never
one for being conventional.
THE ten year REUNION
====================
Everyone looked the same.
True adult versions of who we were 11 years ago.
Everyone looked different
-- wiser, stronger, weathered, broken in --
more comfortable with our lives, decisions,
actions and choices.
Pleased with who we became
-- in contrast to who we wanted to be.
Pleased with our bodies, our lives.
Everyone sounded the same.
Laughed the same.
Smiled the same.
Everyone spoke with more confidence and conviction
while sharing stories of their spouse or partner,
children, job, vacation, personal accomplishments.
The laughter and smiles...
that of caring, nurturing,
seasoned men and women embarking on the next phase
of their lives.
Everyone acted the same.
Friendships and cliques were evident
the minute you walked in the room,
long-time bonds that will not -- and should not --
be broken.
Stepping back in time...into the quad at lunch:
should we sit on the steps?
the grass -- which side of the grass?
under the trees?
or drive to Taco Bell?
Everyone acted different.
Everyone was in the same clique.
We were all friends who shared
four of the best -- and worst -- years of our lives.
Who cares where we sit?
We were happy to see each other.
We were all fresh-faced,
innocent
(that's questionable!)
teenagers
in our school's cafeTORIUM at a Friday night dance.
We were all adults.
We were all the most changed.
We were all the least changed.

It was amazing how nicely everyone grew up!! I thought everyone seemed so
